Tethered . . .

Sometimes the slight hindrances of life with diabetes make me chuckle.  For example . . .

tethered
Don’t  you just hate it when you can’t get out of the car because you’re tethered to the seat belt?  And don’t you think this “problem” never crosses the mind of someone who doesn’t have diabetes?

  1. Darn seatbelts! I get tangled up like that more times than I are to admit, and actually try to coordinate my pump/CGM sites accordingly when I know I'm going to be driving long distances. Same with travels on planes, when I really try to make sure my sensor isn't hanging out in the aisle where it will get knocked off by a beverage cart or unknowing passerby... oh, diabetes!

  2. Like Mike says, long drives are the problem for me. That's when I'm most likely to put my pump in the most comfortable of places, without giving thought to anything else. Then, when I arrive at my destination, I eagerly get out of my truck... or at least try to.

  3. Today is my first day on the pump, and this already happened driving home from my training session! More things to learn...

  4. It doesn't happen to me to often, but I am looking forward to having my CGM data on my watch (Nightscout or Dex G5), so that I have to take the Animas from my belt less often and will not get tethered.
Another annoying thing are road toll stations when you're wearing your sensor on the left arm...

  6. Where it get me is trying on pants in a dressing room. I wind up shoving my pump in my bra, then decide to try on a top, then get all tangled up...yeah.

  7. Ah, I hate when that happens! The worst is when you don't realize you are tethered :-P
