Wordless(ish) Wednesday - Conquering a High
Lately I’ve been more bothered by lows than highs (more on that next time). But when those sticky highs hit, its frustrating to watch my blood sugar soar on my CGM while bolus after bolus appears to do nothing. My sure-fire high cure? Grocery shopping!! It never fails to bring my blood sugar down. (Target works too. Although as you can see, sometimes they work a little too well.)
Do you have a trick that always helps get you back into range?

My son goes for a bike ride and he is down so quickly that we had to contend with a few lows.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about shopping?
ReplyDeleteBrushing my teeth...I swear its like the toothpaste has insulin in it!
ReplyDeleteGotta go to the gym. Works like a charm. If it doesn't, THEN I head to the grocery store...
ReplyDeleteFor highs that are REALLY sticky, I will crank up my basal for a few hours. Otherwise going for a walk (about a mile or so) really seems to help. It's weird, but for some reason walking affects my bloodsugar more than running! Weird!
ReplyDeleteWalmart does the trick for me! The cookie isle knows me well!!!
ReplyDeleteShopping works wonders - except for our wallets!
ReplyDeleteWow and some people look for an excuse to shop. You could patent that!
ReplyDeleteMaking beds always does it for me. Or sorting my kids toys.
ReplyDeleteI go high at the grocery store! It's strange, it's like, while I'm fantasizing about eating all this good food, my body reacts in a weird way...don't know lol Go figure!
ReplyDeleteSwimming!
