I’ll admit it . . . . I LOVE PIZZA AND MARTINI FRIDAY. |
It took a while to figure it out, but my Pizza and Martini Dual Wave usually keeps my blood sugars happy. And that’s what I’m talking about at my latest post over at The Loop, entitled Pizza and Martini Night.
If you are a pumper, do you make use of your advanced features? Do you have any tips or tricks to share? Anything you wish you knew more about?

I love this! I am a square-wave fan myself... having never figured out how to work the Dual-Wave. Have any tips?
ReplyDeleteLove this! I think I might have to start Pizza/Martini Fridays at our place, too!
Would you care to share your tips on how to bolus successfully for pizza?
ReplyDeleteI have given up however am prepared to be inspired by the thought of a Pizza and martini night
I eat three slices of thin crust, medium sized pizza, at Pizza Hut. That is 69 carbs. I take half of my bolus before eating, and the rest about 90 minutes later. That has been working well for me. I also have a salad since three slices of pizza do no completely satisfy my hunger. I take the full bolus for the salad before eating. I have tried both the square and dual wave boluses, but have not had much success. That was a few years ago, so maybe I should try them again with my next Mexican meal.
ReplyDeleteI use the dual-wave for my coffee bolus daily...I need to take about 70% insulin with my coffee and then 30% for two hours afterwards, otherwise I spike. No understanding why, as I'm not putting sugar in my coffee, just splenda and a small bit of Coffee-Mate!
ReplyDeleteI do like to use a temporary basal for any fatty foods I eat (including pizza). I'll give my meal bolus, and then set at temporary basal for 3-4 hours afterwards for usually 117% of my basal. I've had to play with this number, but it seems to work great!
